Damn you Vista!!!!
Well after getting my new sata hard drive I figured I would install vista on it to see how it would run(plus i need to make a raid disk to install WinXP). All the little neat features that I liked in the beta versions I still like(I was able to copy most of them in WinXP). Its not as slow and unstable as the betas were. So overall I guess I am happy on how its running. The only big issues I am having is that explorer likes to crash more often then I want it to, and the other thing is the issue with my Sapphire HD2600pro. I have been getting constant BSODs which is pretty annoying. The card was running solid when using WinXP, but looking around I found out that I wasn't the only person having this bsod issue. I also found out that setting the core clock on the video card to 550mhz(default is 600mhz) the crashes stop. So I had to install rivaTuner to set that up, and what do you know I can pass the chimp test(the test would crash before). So now that everything is working(kinda) I am fairly happy with it. Its funny to see a video card made for vista fail when on newegg everyone was saying the card doesn't work right on WinXP(I'm having opposite issue).
Computer!!!!
Well I got my new powersupply 600w X-Connect VS... It is sooo much nicer then my other $30 450w powersupply. I also finally figured out what was causing my computer to freeze. It seems on a Asus A7V880 if you have the vcore set to auto it wont set the vcore to 1.65 it for some odd reason sets it to 1.61 or 1.59(it kept switching between the two for me) so I just set the vcore manually to 1.75 and I haven't had a freezing problem yet. Setting it to 1.70 it still may drop to 1.64 which may cause to comp to freeze. I also finally got my WD 160gb sata that works, this will be the third harddive I received. So everything is finally working out. Next on the list is more ram, and I am done buying computer parts unless I need a bigger harddrive or I need to new computer....
Computer Upgraded.. but not enough power…
Well I have finally got myself a new video card... ATI HD2600pro its much better then my old one.. this one will let my play crysis.... but with the new video card.. My comp will freeze on high CPU usage... I also haven't been able to install my 160gb WD SATA drive.. since both of my drives were DOA... but i have a PATA 160 gig as my main at the moment.. with a 500gb Samsung SATA drive as my secondary.. I had to remove my old main harddrive till I can get a bigger power supply.. it seem 450w psu isn't enough with all my cards plugged in so now i am short 6 usb ports, 2 firewire ports, and I can't plug my 80gb harddrive in to back up the rest of my game saves...
Need a new vid card or VGA cooler…
Well after my powersupply dieing and having to take apart my computer.. then having issues with my gf's comp parts and trying to get everything to work.. my vga cooler fan died on my ati 9600.... So maybe its about time I got a new vid card....
