Nokia E71x

Well after debating on which phone to get I ended up getting the Nokia E71x. In the end I was down to the iphone, E71 and the samsung impresion or eternity. Now the reviews I was reading was for the Nokia E71 and not the E71x.

The are a few differences between the E71 and the E71x. There are few features that are missing in the E71x that the E71 has. Like the calender with tasklist in month view, customizable standby screen, configureable buttons with long press short press options. Most of those can be fixed with third party apps.

Overall this phone is great it has 100mb of space and an microsd slot currently I have a 8gb installed on mine. It already has a good amount apps installed on it and i still have over 50mb left on it.

Now apps for this phone is harder to get than the iphone. But there are enough to keep you satisfied. You can run ngage on the phone if you get a cracked version. There is also an app to open and work on office docs which is handy.

Another negitive this phone has compared to the iphone is there is no 3.5mm jack for headphones. But on the plus side the phone has a 3.2mp camera with auto focus and flash. It isd also possible to have multiple programs open on the phone switch between them fairly quickly. Another positive thing is that you can watch flash on the webbrowser, there are also a few different browsers the you can use on the phone which is nice since you try them all out and use the one you like the most.

After using this phone for about a week I am really happy with it. It has wifi and there are alot of free apps that you can use with it as the symbian os is really popular in europe. Some apps i recommend is fring, skyfire, shazam, mobbler, ttpod, theme schedular, profile schedular, eggclock, calcium. As for paid apps i would get, handy shell, handy alarm pro, handy calender, smart settings(you might not want this if you have handy shell), ringtone maker and audiocube. Some of the apps I mentioned might be pointless but they are handy. There prob is a better app than audiocube for re-encoding music files but its one that I have been playing with and seems to bwe decent.

Handy shell will give you a decent standby screen which is good as its a better than the default one it will also search through your phone for contacts or apps as you type.
Handy calender will give you the calender functionality that was taken out of the the E71x version. Plus more view options which should help increase productivity.
Fring will allow you to connect to all you IM clients as well as skype so you can use your phone as voip phone which is very handy.
Smartsettings lets you set up a startmenu type of app launcher. As well setting custom unlock keys and autolock functions.
the other apps listed are pretty much your average fun apps. Googling the name should explain what they do. If i feel up to it i may list them al in a new post.

Btw this was posted using my nokia e71x with wordmobi.
